Il mare di
Torre Pali appartiene a uno dei pochi mari non inquinati. Le sue acque
limpide e chiare, sotto i riflessi dei raggi del sole, creano
fantasmagorici giochi di colore.
Torre Pali è una località
balneare sulla costa jonica, sita tra S.M. di Leuca e Gallipoli,
facente parte di una delle marine di Salve, paese sito all'interno a
circa 8 Km dalla costa salentina. Il nome Torre Pali, si deve
attribuire ai parecchi pali di legno, trovati lungo la riva e che, si
crede siano stati portati qui da una delle solite mareggiate
invernali, relitti di qualche naufragio.
La Torre, insieme ad altre
torri sorte lungo la costa, furono costruite nel 1573 come postazioni
di avvistamento, contro le scorrerie dei pirati turchi e algerini, dal
Conte Antonio Gonzaga, durante la dominazione spagnola. Di questa
Torre, oggi, ne è rimasta una parte; le intemperie marine col passare
dei secoli, ne hanno provocato la corrosione.

intense blue sea and clear sky, stimulates visitors to explore nature.
Thanks to its mild climate, even in winter, it is inhabited by both
fishermen and pensioners, and is the ideal place for those who wish to
spend quiet holidays even out of season.
Its little harbour, which has its origins in antiquity, is a magnet
for tourists, and the place is a paradise for lovers of really fresh
fish, caught locally by local fishermen.
The limpid water reveals the exceptional beauties of the marine flora
and fauna.
For those who wish, it is possible to practice on or more fascinating
sports: sub-aqua fishing, surfing, water-skiing, etc. The village
resort of Torre Pali has recently built sports facilities for visitors.
These include tennis courts, and fotball pitch, mini-football and
children’s play
areas.
Shops, restaurants, pizzerias, fishmongers and supermarkets are all
close to hand.
The more demanding and younger visitors can add to the excitement of
their stay with visits to nearby cinemas and discotheques. Mr
